On dead plants and lame duck Presidents

My buddy Scott is a limp-wristed liberal, but his latest post on President Bush’s chance to make a real change for the better strikes a chord. I’ve long held that for real change to happen, it would take a President and Congress willing to commit political suicide. We do need a new energy policy in the USA. It amazes me how we are at the dawn of the 21st Century, and we still burn fossil fuels for the majority of our power. Nuclear, anyone?

    limp-wristed liberal?

Dude – I assure you that I am a militant liberal, and my wrists are not only firm, but my forearms are evenly developed! (grin)

We do need non-fossil fuel power sources though, ALL of them: nuclear, wind, solar, hydro, ethanol from corn and from sugar, bio-diesel, the works…

Why not harnes power from waves… and if that can be done – it is only a few steps to harnes power from noise. While those are probably not efficient, they’ll certainly be elegant – reduce erosion of shores and noise in cities while generating small amounts of power….

Our government should have done something about new energy sources long ago. It’s been 30 years since the oil embargo of the 1970s – when will we wake up and tackle this difficult but very interesting problem to solve.
