You like hops? You will love this Weyerbacher Hops Infusion. Nice head, good body, smells of coppery malts, but no malt flavor. As expected with a super hop brew, it leaves a bitter but not astringent aftertaste.

Buffalo Bill’s Pumpkin Ale is tonight’s brew. Very light head, and a very light, thin body. Bouquet is faintly touched with pumpkin. Slightly malty.
I like my pumpkin ales to have a lot more feel, and the anemic body on this one left a lot to be desired.
Tonight’s beer is the Flying Dog 20th Anniversary “Raging Bitch” Belgian-style IPA. Pours a bit hazy, without much head. Flowery on the nose, an an interesting subtle bubblegum scent. Very hoppy, with a slight orange flavor lingering on the palate. Sweet, but not overpowering. The 8.3% ABV will creep up on you, especially on an empty stomach.
Last weekend was my 20th high school reunion. Saturday night was dinner at Fogo De Chão and what a dinner. The meat is served by an endless parade of “gauchos” with skewers of meat that they slice on to your plate until you indicate you need a break with a red STOP card. The salad bar was equally impressive – important for the vegetarian guests – but if you’re there for the prix fix meat smorgasbord, don’t go heavy on the greenery. No, not every cut of meat was a epicurean tour de force, but that’s the beauty – there’s more on the way. Highly recommended for my carnivore friends, and also recommended by my vegetarian wife.
The requisite photo with the new camera.
I decided to try something new and picked up a bottle of Vox vodka.
According to the bottle – which is striking in and of itself:
Vox is imported from the Netherlands, a country with more than 400 years of vodka-making experience. Vox is created from meticulously selected grains of the highest quality, then distilled five times. This exacting, time honored process ensures an exceptionally smooth taste, clean finish, and vibrant clarity by which all other vodkas should be judged. Vox vodka, the voice of perfection.
At room temperature, and not chilled, I found it to be smooth, with a surprising body. Clean with a peppery touch. I have not tried it as a mixer yet, but it is quite drinkable neat.
