Mini-review: Missing Sync for iPhone

I mentioned Missing Sync for iPhone in a previous post and that it was “coming real soon now”. It is out and I have been using it for a few weeks. As with their other Missing Sync products, there is no demo available. I’ve used Missing Sync for Palm and Missing Sync for Windows Mobile [...]

iTrip AutoPilot

Tired of being prompted to turn on “Airplane Mode” when plugging your FM transmitter into your iPhone? Griffin’s iTrip AutoPilot is the first Apple-approved iPhone adapter. The auto-scan feature will be nice in the radio-saturated DC area.

iPhone: Still missing

My speculation is that Apple will have an iPhone-specific press event to coincide with the official release of the SDK. I hope that they make some more changes:

Cut and paste - seriously, still not added?
Support for the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. Come on - the device has a huge screen to display workout info [...]

Custom iPhone icon for a bookmark

Yesterday’s 1.1.3 iPhone update allows users to put bookmarks on their home screen. One of the problems is that the icon is very often a snippet of the page. I noticed iLounge had a nice icon, so I popped open Safari’s activity window, and lo! To get a custom icon, just create a 57×57 [...]

Mobile Pownce

Pownce has finally released a mobile version at http://m.pownce.com bringing it to some sort of parity with Jaiku and Twitter. It will be interesting to see if they can get an app out after the iPhone SDK is released that will allow hooking into the filesystem for posting of photos from the phone’s camera.

Sync notes with your iPhone

It’s been a year since I debated moving over to Yojimbo from SOHO Notes, so it’s time to address the next step - syncing. One of the biggest gripes I have about the iPhone is the inability to sync notes with the desktop. You can email yourself, and then move that note to the Notes [...]

iTunes and Quicktime updates

iTunes 7.5 features the ability to activate iPhone wherever service is offered and support for Phase, a new interactive music game designed exclusively for iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod (fifth generation). This release also includes bug fixes to improve stability and performance.
Still no games for iPhone!
Quicktime is updated to work with iTunes [...]

Power Support Anti-Glare film for iPhone

160 dpi. Resolution of 480×320. It seems a shame to cover that with a screen protector that affects that beautiful display, but that is what I did tonight. I picked up the Power Support Anti-Glare film for iPhone earlier and finally got around to installing it. As with their crystal film, the static cling method [...]

Mobile Google Docs

http://docs.google.com/m is now live. While you can not edit your documents, you can finally view them easily.

SDK for iPhone

Apple’s Hot News page has a post from Steve Jobs regarding the release of a SDK for the iPhone and iPod Touch come February:

Let me just say it: We want native third party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers’ hands in February. We are excited about creating a [...]
