Bungie independent again

From Microsoft’s press release:

REDMOND, Wash. — Oct. 5, 2007 — Microsoft Corp. today announced a plan for Bungie Studios, the developers of the “Halo®” franchise, to embark on a path to become an independent company. Microsoft will retain an equity interest in Bungie, at the same time continuing its long-standing publishing agreement between Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie for the Microsoft-owned “Halo” intellectual property as well as other future properties developed by Bungie.

The scuttlebutt is that Microsoft retains all rights to Halo, Take-Two owns Myth and Oni, and Bungie has Marathon. Maybe now we will see Myth or Marathon return!

XBOX 360 HD-DVD + 300 for free

Best Buy has a deal this week with the XBOX 360 HD-DVD player at $179.99 and 300 thrown in for free. As before, King Kong and the remote also comes with the package. While it is a $30 price increase, it’s still not a bad deal.
